Privacy Policy – Kinderly (Chrome Extension)
Last updated:
Overview
Kinderly transforms webpages into a paper-like reading experience (Reader Mode / Paper Mode), with optional color controls and a book-style reader view. The extension runs entirely in your browser. We do not collect, store, transmit, sell, or share any personal data.
Data Collection
- No personally identifiable information (PII) is collected.
- No browsing history, keystrokes, or page contents are collected or transmitted.
- No analytics, advertising trackers, or third-party scripts are used.
What We Store Locally
The extension uses chrome.storage to save your preferences locally on your device:
- Current mode (Paper mode / none)
- Selected color option (Full / Soft / B&W)
- Reader mode toggle
- Reader preferences (font size, margins, spacing, theme, layout)
These settings never leave your device.
Permissions Explained
- activeTab – Apply or remove the reading/filter effects on the tab you are viewing.
- storage – Persist your mode, color, and reader preferences across tabs/sessions.
- webNavigation – Re-apply your chosen mode on SPA navigations and new page loads for consistency.
- Host permissions (<all_urls>) – The extension must be able to adjust any site the user visits, to fulfill its single purpose of rendering a paper-like environment.
Remote Code
The extension does not execute remote code. All scripts and assets are packaged inside the extension.
Children’s Privacy
The extension is a utility tool and does not target children or collect any personal data.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy to reflect improvements or compliance updates. We will update the “Last updated” date above.
